Wow, I can’t believe the day is finally here. Such a long wait culminated to me stepping into line at 7am this morning at the Washington At&t store. I was 6th in line and eventually the line built to about 65-70 people. Sad thing is that they only had 30 iPhones available, 10 8GB, 10 White 16GB, and 10 Black 16GB. A lot of people walked away without iPhones, a lot of them were clueless anyway to what the iPhone 3G involved. I met about 9 people, two guys were really cool to talk to as we passed the time. BTW Bruce I passed out 4 business cards, haha. After a bit the manager came out and starting taking phone numbers to double check for availability. I passed, duh, I had the first generation iPhone. Like I mentioned I was 6th into the store and calmly walked to a register where we started the dreaded activation process. Remember that memo that said the At&t employee was to let me “bond” with my iPhone? Well she DIDN’T! I almost killed the woman, haha only kidding. She did open it and taunt me with it as the activation process went on. iTunes gave her problems in activating my phone so they let me take it home to activate it, which is what they should of done in the first place. I was the first person out of the store with the iPhone 3G, I felt a little special and afraid because the line had gotten bigger now and someone might maul me as I walk to my car!! But I made it safely to the car and safely home, trying not to speed the whole way.
Now as I sit here my phone is completely activated and I have downloaded a few apps from the App store on the phone. I haven’t synced my information yet, and as soon as iTunes servers are back up I’ll be looking into some more apps. Twitter is my favorite so far! Anyway the struggle is finally over and I have my iPhone 3G. If you want to see the journey in pictures, don’t worry I have them so just check them out below. Click on the picture to go to my photostream to see them all! What are your guys opinion about this event today?!
I’ll start giving you my impression later on, when everything works!

Congratulations! I am so happy for you!
I have about a month to go before I will get mine. We just got 3G Networks here in Lafayette, LA which I am very excited about! I can’t wait to get one!

Thanks Nicki! Why do you have to wait another month for yours? Just waiting until the madness dies down? I’m telling you, you will love it when you get yours! Thanks for the comment.

I actually had an idea the other day. I am going to put all the money the iPhone will cost me over the span of the two year contract into a interest gaining bank account, and have AT&T deduct from there automatically. That way if my financial situation ever changes in the next two years I won’t have to worry about not being able to afford it. I also won’t have to worry about the $70-$75 increase in my monthly budget. It’s done and paid for…for two years. I have about a month left until I hit the magic number….

Now this is an original idea! I don’t think I’ve ever heard anyone come up with such a plan to help pay for the iPhone. Won’t you also have money left over after interest? Since I am on a family line my monthly bill now is $40, not too bad. But this is definitely a great idea if this all works out! Let me know how this goes for you please! thanks for sharing, haha.
