iPhone 3G GPS Video

This post goes out to Gus who is up in Canada waiting for his time to get an iPhone 3G!!

Well I had to go to the studio today to deliver a lelsie cabinet, that sounds fantastic. I thought that on my way there I would use the GPS on the iPhone and film it, just to show everyone how it works. I must say it works very well. Today was the first time I had tested it in a moving vehicle. I steered with my left hand and tried to film with my right, so please forgive the shaky footage. Somewhere in there though you can see that the little blue dot follows me everywhere I go, just as GPS should. Let me know if there is anything else I can test for you.

Hope you like Ben Folds covering Dr. Dre

Awesome! I have been looking for a demo just like this and couldn’t find it anywhere! Thanks!

    Okay,
On the new phone is the battery life as unbearable as everyone is saying it is?

Can you give me some idea of how the battery life is? I have a feeling that people are exaggerating when they say, I made 10 calls, surfed the web for 15 minutes, and listened about 20 songs and my phone was dead.

    Any insight into this?

    Thanks,
    Nick

In my own tests the battery life is just as good if not slightly better than the last iPhone. I’ll give you my test of the battery today.

I got up at 7 and my iPhone had a full charge. I made two calls lasted about 10 minutes, went to church to rehearse made two more calls 5 minutes, wifi was on all day. I had the iPod running for atleast 45 minutes today. I’ve probably spent, at a rough guess, 3 hours on edge today with the wifi on. 3G is turned off btw. I’ve downloaded a few apps and set them up. Surfed the web for awhile, was on aim, text messaging, twitting, checking the weather. I was just on it again probably for another hour so make it 4 for today. So after all of that I’m at about a 3rd of my battery left. Honestly that’s not bad! I’m pretty impressed. I can’t give you 3G specs as I’m not around a good 3G area in my hometown. But I imagine it would drain faster.

If you have your settings right the battery will last. My brightness is down and 3G is off. I’ve usually turn off wifi when it’s not in use but haven’t today. I’ll keep you updated if it changes, but I think I put it through it’s paces today and it’s lasted! Haha, thanks.

    good to know.

We just got 3G in our area last week, I guess I will probably have to turn off 3G unless it is in a charger. I am very excited to get one.

    Thanks again,
    Nicki
